Community impact labs

The labs are where the work becomes tangible.

Each Community Impact Lab is a physical space set up for collaboration: workshops, co-design sessions, prototyping, and community gatherings. Every location has a lab steward on hand to support the process, and Fellows are available for more in-depth guidance when the work calls for it.

canvases

"The canvas collection" is a growing library of physical design canvases that evolves along side the work of the community. We have started with 14 which we believe create a great foundation to grow from.

Sometime referred to as "tools" they are there to help guide you through the innovation process.

Depending on the lab location and use case they be found if a variety of places such as printed on a Menu Board, stored in a Innovation Kiosk or digitally in our Innovation Network.

Innovation

kiosk

Innovation Kiosk appear in labs that can accommodate them. The physical set of a Community Impact Lab is to be modular and versatile and flow within its setting. Kiosks are on wheel and allow for mobility and storage of many of the innovation tools.

They act a visual marker of the work being done, an anchor point for users to self locate and a place to store and access resources.

caddIES & storage

Flexibility and mobility are top of mind when engaging with these innovation tools.

Innovation happens wherever you are doing the work and the tools need to reflect that as well. We have developed Canvas Caddies to store and take tools with you and Supply Caddies to store consumable materials like sticky notes and marker.

Interacting with the canvases relies heavily on being able to move your thoughts around as much of this work is iterative and ever moving.

BRING A LAB
TO YOUR
COMMUNITY

Community Impact Labs are currently hosted at the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, Georgian College, and local public libraries. These spaces are chosen to be accessible and embedded in the communities they serve.

If you are interested in establishing a lab in your area, we would like to talk with you.
